Winter Festivals of the Canadian Rockies

Day 1: Arrive in Alberta
Arrive in Calgary and transfer to your hotel. Tonight, meet your Tour Manager and fellow travelers at 6:00 p.m. for a welcome dinner. Meal: B

Day 2: Calgary Sightseeing and Calgary Tower
Welcome to Calgary one of North America 's most rugged and beautiful cities, known for its cowboys and spectacular beauty. Our narrated city tour shows us the Old and New City Halls, Olympic Plaza and Chinatown. We also make a stop at Scotsman Hill and Canada Olympic Park, site of the 1988 Winter Olympics. Lunch is atop the 626-foot-high Calgary Tower, one of Canada 's highest restaurants. Meals: B, L

Day 3: Sulphur Mountain Gondola and Lake Louise Ice Magic Festival
Located amid the rugged alpine beauty of the Rocky Mountains, Banff is the site of Canada 's first national park. We take agondola ride to the peak of Sulphur Mountain for a spectacular view of the village and valley below. This afternoon we head to Lake Louise, home to the “Ice Magic Festival,” for a view of the International Ice Sculpture Competition and Exhibition. Teams and individual carvers turn 300 pound blocks of ice into breathtaking sculptures, some reaching seven feet in height. Meals: B, D

Day 4: Lake Louise Sleigh Ride and Ice Sculpture Competition
We depart Banff today, and travel the Icefields Parkway to beautiful Chateau Lake Louise. Here, the glacier-fed Lake Louise is set against the backdrop of the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains soaring skyward. Take in the magnificent sights as you stroll down a crystalline walkway along the frozen shores of the lake. We take a horse-drawn sleigh ride around the lake before departing for Jasper National Park. Meals: B, D

Day 5: Maligne Canyon Icewalk Tour and Jasper in January Winter Festival
This morning an experienced adventure guide leads us on an exciting journey into Maligne Canyon. The Icewalk tour takes us to the bottom of the deepest accessible canyon in Jasper National Park to explore the frozen waterfalls, ice caves and incredible ice formations found here. The afternoon is spent in Jasper where their “January Winter Festival” is in full swing. Attend one of the many activities or shop in the many stores and boutiques. In the evening the Jasper Planetarium shows us Jasper 's “dark sky preserve.” Meal: B

Day 6: West Edmonton Mall
Depart Jasper for Edmonton and visit the famed West Edmonton Mall. At 5.3 million square feet the Mall is the size of a small city and is home to more than 800 stores and services including nine world-class attractions. Tonight, we gather with our fellow travelers for a farewell dinner. Meals: B, D

Day 7: Return Home
Following breakfast, we depart Canada with a group transfer to the Edmonton Airport for flights home. Meal: B
